The 2026 list is frozen

IRCC states that it will not add or remove eligible fields of study during 2026. Use the current official CIP list when a field-of-study requirement applies to you.

Who does not need the field rule

Bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral graduates do not have a PGWP field-of-study requirement. Graduates who applied for their study permit before November 1, 2024 are also exempt from the field-of-study requirement.

Who may need it

Graduates of other university programs and college, polytechnic or non-university programs may need to graduate in an eligible field when their study permit application was submitted on or after November 1, 2024.

Do not rely on a fixed “number of eligible programs” headline

Use the current IRCC CIP search instead of treating a past count of eligible fields as permanent. A program title alone is not enough; the six-digit CIP code matters.
